TIMBER STRUCTURES
We offer timber framing courses in which you will build with us a timber frame in green oak.
This practice piece will give students an understanding of traditional layout methods using a scribe and rule and will cover all aspects of contemporary frame construction.
You will layout, mark and cut traditional mortise and tenon, dovetail and scarf joints in large section green timber. Finishing methods for frames will also be shown and discussed.
Its a very hands-on course working with both modern and traditional tools but the theory behind timber frame building is also covered including areas such as the conversion and arrangement of timber and land and planning issues for various types of construction.
